here it is

Dear Chuck D,

I think I am in love with you all over again. I first fell in love with you at the end of 10th grade when someone handed me a copy of Yo Bum Rush The Show . I was amazed by your ability to put life lessons on a rap album. I was in awe of your flow. I wanted to be just as conscious as you were.

Recently, a friend burned a cd for me which features songs from all of your albums. I have been listening to this cd for the past few weeks. I was pleased to realize that most of the lessons you are teaching are still relevant today. There hasn’t been anyone that matched you as far as flows are concerned.

I am voting for a PE revolution. I want everyone to join. I want to start a Chuck D fan club and hang your picture up in my room like I’m 16 again.

I want to keep listening to PE albums nonstop until I know every word by heart again.

Then I want to stand in the middle of crowded intersections reciting these lyrics so that others too may know.

I love you Chuck D.

obfuscated

I feel the need to write, but I have everything and nothing to write about. My mind is a jumbled mess of thoughts, ideas, the need for expression and the confusion that restricts my ability to translate it into words.

"The truly creative mind in any field is no more than this: a human creature born abnormally, inhumanly sensitive. To him...a touch is a blow, a sound is a noise, a misfortune is a tragedy, a joy is an ecstasy, a friend is a lover, a lover is a god, and failure is death. Add to this cruelly delicate organism the overpowering necessity to create, create...so that without the creating of music or poetry or books or buildings or something of meaning, his very breath is cut off from him. He must create, must pour creation. By some strange, unknown, inward urgency he is not really alive unless creating."

*yawn*

I got plenty of sleep last night, but I'm still ready for another cup of coffee. I think I drink so much of it that I've built a tolerance to it and it takes more to get me going. Should I be scared?

Shrek

I’m sitting at my desk listening to the 80’s station and laughing quietly to myself because Bonnie Tyler’s “Holding Out For a Hero” is playing. If you have seen Shrek 2, then you know why it’s funny to me.

I found this Shrek to be even funnier than the first. I laughed hard. Antonio Banderas was a pleasant and funny addition to the crew of Shrek and Donkey. I will have to see it again because I’m sure there are some sight gags that I missed. I had never heard of Jennifer Saunders before, because although I’ve heard of Absolutely Fabulous, I’ve never watched it, but she was great in the role of the fairy godmother. Rupert Everett’s Prince Charming was handsome, spoiled and vain, but he was enjoyable nonetheless. I’m thinking of catching a matinee today after work because I need to be able to see it without all the kid noise in the background.
